Hi, I'm the Vans Classic Slip-On Checkeboard sneaker. If you’re not a fan of blind dates, come and find out something about me. So you know what you’re coming across!
The unique and iconic design of my sneaker was first worn by skaters in the late seventies. At that time, I was called the Vans Style 48, but because I’ve never liked numbers, I later changed my name to Vans Classic Slip-On.
As time went by, word soon got around about how comfortable and undemanding I was, so I'm not worn just by skateboarders, but by sneaker-lovers all around.
As I’ve said, not only followers of the cult of rattling wheels wear me. Thanks to the likes of stars like Hugh Jackman, Kristen Stewart or Jennifer Lawrence, I even found myself on the red carpet. In addition to that, I often appear on the feet of the stars around you - your friends. Seriously, ask how many of them have me in their shoe collection!
What do I go great with?
I am simple and comfortable, so it’s ideal when the rest of the outfit has a similar vibe. You know what I mean, I wouldn't really wear me to prom or with a suit. But you don't have to worry that we wouldn't be compatible. After all, even according to GQ, I am the best sneaker that goes with everything!
So this is me. And what will you tell me about yourself?
Vans Checkerboard - checkerboard in the main role! Slip-Ons, Old Skools, Sk8-Hi and other well known and proven silhouettes in a checkerboard design. The roots of using this design on Vans shoes is dated back to the end of 70s, when Steve Van Doren, son of the founder Paul, noticed that skaters drew the above-mentioned checkerboard design with black permanent pens on the white soles of Slip-Ons. As with many other models by Vans, the Checkerboard collection comes from the skate pop-culture of the last century. Checkerboards have definitely become legendary after 1982, hand in hand with the premiere of the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, where they were worn by the main character portrayed by Sean Penn. Thanks to their smart dual coloring, they match any outfit more easily, so pick yours at Footshop!
The Vans Slip-On silhouette is one of the most iconic Vans models today. The canvas style of the Slip-On ensures maximum flexibility, breathability, and comfort, making the sneaker the ideal choice for casual wear. The Vans Slip-On sneakers are available at Footshop in several colorways, in men's and women's size runs.
Wear style, wear Vans Slip-On.
The Vans Slip-On sneakers in both men's and women's styles will serve you well on every occasion. By their very nature, they're suitable for skateboarding, but they'll also come in handy for everyday wear - you won't spend valuable minutes tying your laces.
The most well-known colorway is the so-called checkerboard, but the Vans Slip-On sneakers are offered in both classic all-weather black and casual white as well, ever since they were released back in the day. The colorway, however, will be entirely up to you, so feel free to choose from our wide selection of other styles and colors. Think about your choice of material too, as you can find them in canvas or even leather at Footshop.
Happy browsing!
